The scenario

The technology works but the timing does not. Datacenters built for 2028 demand sit idle in 2027; debt raised against future revenue is repriced; a hyperscaler or a major lab cannot refinance. Like the 2001 telecom bust, the infrastructure survives and is later used, but the crash takes pensions, credit and a political mandate with it. Ironically, a bust slows every other branch, including the good ones.
